EAC 8.8.19 FB

Dear  EAC Network Supporter,

EAC Network was founded 50 years ago in 1969. Our human service agency was formed at a time when our nation was putting forth a major effort to battle poverty, crime, drugs, and racism. Four volunteers, Diana Freed, Joan Boden, Barbara Gross, and Nadine Heyman, joined together to help young people take advantage of vocational and educational opportunities. The founders of the EAC Network were a unique group of people who were creative, committed, and energetic in the pursuit of ways to enhance our society.

Seniors Enjoy Annual Luau

Our North Merrick Senior Community Service Center had yet another party when it hosted its 4th Annual Luau where over 70 seniors came to enjoy the entertainment by Dance Aloha, who performed for the seniors and encouraged audience participation. Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch, Hawaiian chicken, rice and green beans, and for dessert an ice cream sundae!

MAC Volunteers Stock Food Pantry

Once again our incredible friends from MAC Cosmetics came to the rescue of our food pantry for people living with HIV/AIDS in Nassau County. Quick as super heroes, they unloaded a truck stuffed with cases and cases of nutritious food. Three hours of unpacking/labeling food and stocking shelves later, they were gone, leaving the pantry filled to the brim.

Brookepacks Prepare Kids for School

We are SO grateful to have received Brookepacks from the Brooke Jackman Foundation once again! Every year, hundreds of children in our programs receive brand new backpacks filled with school supplies and books so they can be ready and confident on the first day of school, and this year was no different! Were it not for these Brookepacks, our children may not have the tools they need to learn. Thank you, Brooke Jackman Foundation!

CAC Promotes Partnership with SCPD

Keryn Lemp, our Child Advocacy Center's (CAC) Community Educator, recently attended the 3rd Precinct's National Night Out event with Pete Rivera of the 3rd Precinct's Community Oriented Police Enforcement (COPE). The CAC works very closely with local police departments and other teams to investigate around 450 child abuse and neglect cases each year at our multi-disciplinary focused facility in Central Islip.

SCOPE Prevents Car Accidents

Millions of car crashes are reported due to distracted and/or irresponsible driving habits. With our Second Chances in Occupant Protection for Everyone (SCOPE) program, we are able to promote positive driving skills and help decrease the number of motor vehicle-related fatalities.
