seniors class-1

Hi  EAC Network Supporter,

This month, older adults at our North Merrick Senior Center continued to enjoy their weekly dance and movement therapy class with instructor Lisa Wisel. At EAC Network's Senior Centers, older adults can engage in a multitude of activities, socialize, enjoy each other's company, and stay young at heart.

This generation was also the focus for National Nutrition Month. Growing older is a natural process, but how we live and how we eat can keep us healthy for many years to come. We can control our genetics by living a healthful lifestyle and consuming a diet that is rich in color and nutrient-dense foods. You may ask... what are the keys to longevity?

In-Home Respite Services Trains New Companions

Our In-Home Respite Services program recently held its winter orientation process for new potential companions! As companions, these individuals will provide much-needed time off for caregivers of older adults with memory loss. Our companions ensure the caregiver's loved one is safe while they take some time for themselves.

Community Member Donates Superhero Toys

Community member Kevin Fitzpatrick (left) recently attended a Mandated Reporter Training at our Child Advocacy Center. After learning about how the CAC reduces the trauma of child abuse and promotes the coordinated prosecution of offenders, he generously donated over 100 superhero toys for our kids! Thank you, Kevin!

Officers Teach Seniors About Phone Scams

Recently, Officer Oginski and Officer Payami of the Nassau County Police Department P.O.P Unit, along with Officer Bellini and Officer Petrizzo of the Port Washington Police Department P.O.P Unit, met with seniors at our Port Washington Senior Center to discuss warning signs and red flags for phone calls that could be scams. Phone scams are on the rise and greatly affecting our senior population in Nassau County, but our seniors are now prepared with the tools they need to identify the scammers!

When I walked into CIRT a year and half ago, I felt alone, confused, and lost in the criminal court system. I was blessed to be assigned to a caseworker that not only was compassionate, but very understanding. Sydney
